After President Obama threw his cards on the table and said he wanted preschool to be available for everyone in his State of the Union address, preschool moved squarely into the political realm.
Head Start has always been somewhat of a lightening rod. Criticisms of it usually revolve around government waste and spending.
But now, the debate might be shifting to criticisms about preschool itself. Arguments are lining up about choice and last week, about morals. This particular argument might not gain any traction. But, it is likely that preschool, the questions about who should pay for it and what should happen in it, will play out on a national scale for a while.
