Katrina Gilbert is working single mom of three kids. Her life in Tennessee documented was for over a year by HBO films, in collaboration with the Shriver Center.
The film is streaming free online until March 24.
Gilbert told the L.A. Times she first got involved in the documentary through her children's preschool, where she was asked if she would be interested in participating.
"At first I was kind of hesitant about it," Gilbert said. "And then I just talked to some of the workers at the center and just decided to go ahead and do it, just to share my story."
After Gilbert saw the film, she said it changed how she sees that story – even though it's her own.
"After I watched it for the first time, I was just taken aback for a minute. I was like, 'Wow, that’s really my life,'" she said. "I would think sometimes in my mind that I’m not a good mom but after watching that, I can say I am a good mom."
