State of Opportunity is coming to a Detroit community near you!
We want to hear from local residents on the question: do you see a future for yourself and your family in Detroit?
Hosts from Michigan Radio, WDET, The Detroit Free Press, and The Center for Michigan will field your comments and opinions on what it takes to make Detroit and your neighborhood a better place to live.
All Michiganders should be invested in what happens to our neighbors, but for these community forums we want to hear from people who actually live in east, northwest, and southwest Detroit. And, let's be candid: we know the educational and income levels of our public radio listenership, so really this is a call to help us get the word out to friends and family who may not listen to public radio.
Who are the people you know who have something to say, but are not always heard in our public conversations about education, transportation, access to safe spaces, and jobs?
These community conversations are FREE and will be held at the following locations from 6-8pm on Thursday, October 24th:
Northeast Guidance Center, 2900 Conner Avenue, Building A, Detroit, MI 48215 with WDET's Craig Fahle;
Northwest Activities Center, 18100 Meyers Rd #1, Detroit, MI 48235 with The Detroit Free Press' Stephen Henderson; and
El Nacimiento Restaurant - 7400 W Vernor Hwy, Detroit, MI 48209 with Michigan Radio's Jennifer White. Spanish interpreter services will be available at this location.
To reserve a spot CALL 313-221-5552, or TEXT your name, # of people attending, and location (NE Guidance; NWAC; El Nacimiento) to 313-221-5552. Light refreshments will be provided.
Sponsored by the W.W. Kellogg Foundation, Michigan Radio, WDET, The Detroit Free Press, and The Center for Michigan
