We're shaking up our website and bringing you new, themed web posts during the week. The posts highlight the research, resources, and great interviews State of Opportunity uses to inform our on-air reporting.

Here's what you can look forward to each week:

Ever wonder what didn't make it into a story you've heard on State of Opportunity? Well, here's where you can find out. Outtakes  are the interview moments that stuck with us and compelling expert knowledge that adds substance to our stories.

We know we have a lot of educators who listen to our stories. Some even use them in their classrooms. Whiteboard asks questions and provides other resources that generate conversation for "teachable moments."

In preparation for future stories and documentaries we read...a lotIdeas & Stuff is a research roundup of studies, books, films, etc. that we're paying attention, as well as continuing coverage of topics we're following, such as gap watch. It’s our chance to share resources, experts, studies, and other materials than inform State of Opp reporting.

We've started to write a bit about Technology and Opportunity, so those stories will become a regular feature. We want to know: how do kids access the technology they need to get ahead? What's the latest on the gadgetry and tech skills touted as  "the next big thing" and what does this mean for proving equal chances at acquiring them? And where does technology fall short?

We would love to hear from you if you have leads on stories in these areas from your experiences. Share your story with us. With that said, let's jump right in with our first Whiteboard posting, "How to explain childhood brain development in just a few minutes."
